Cardiac Arrest Signs to IBEX MOON RECORDS
"Adding to an all ready devastatingly brutal roster of bands, Ibex Moon Records has just signed Chicago’s CARDIAC ARREST.
In addition to appearing alongside newfound labelmates such as INCANTATION, ACHERON, FATALIST and GRAVEHILL at this year’s Central Illinios and Michigan Deathfests, June 8th, 2010 will also see the release of Cardiac Arrest’s third full-length, Haven For The Insane.
The band had this to say about their relationship with Ibex Moon Records, “We are humbly honored to join the ranks of the Ibex Moon Records roster. Most of us have known John for a very long time, and have the upmost respect for him. Being on a larger label run by a musician is absolutely ideal for a band like us. We’re finally ‘home,’ as they say. We collectively look forward to growing a lasting relationship with Ibex Moon Records; bringing our brand of death metal, Heart Stopping Death Rot, to the masses. You have been warned. See you on the road!”
A video trailer promoting Haven For The Insane, due out May 25th on Ibex Moon Records, can be seen below. Pre-orders will be available soon."

6/19/07: CA cancels GMF2/New Shows
Official statement on GMF2 cancellation: "It is with deep regret that Cardiac Arrest is forced to announce the cancellation of our appearance at this year's Goregon Massacre Fest. Travel expenses are simply too high, and we have tried every means at our disposal to procure the money we would need to make this a reality, but have failed. We apologize to Jason, Josie, and all that make the GMF happen, and pledge to make this up to them in the nearest possible future. We owe you one!
To the fans: we love you all, and appreciate the endless support you give us every day. We are sorry to not be able to play for you this year. Plans are already underway to make it out there ASAP. Thank you all. Grind, ROT, and Kill!

Also we are in the middle of writting the next album titled "The Cadaverous Prescence", it is very well coming together, we'll go in to record it hopefully sometime between and after the minitour. As always we'll let you know what's going on.
Thanks again for all of your continued support.
Till next time this is Adam saying ROT IT UP FUCKERS!"
12/12/06: Studio Update
Polymorph is treating us well: Lead Engineer Kai Kauffmann is outdoing himself on these tracks! Saturday saw drums (one take) and guitars (2 of 3 one take for both Tom and Adam) decimated. Yesterday (Monday), leads and bass tracks were laid down. Everything sound clear, big, and LOUD. Vocals are due to be recorded Sunday. All in all, we are very pleased with the initial results. Jim has taken on the additional role of producing these tracks, to ensure that come out the way the band envisions. Between Jim and Kai's experience, this should come out SICK. We'll keep you posted.
12/09/06: Back in the Studio/Official Forum
We're back in the studio, folks: today Cardiac Arrest is in Polymorph Media Studio to record some pre-production tracks for Cadaverous Prescence. We're doing versions of three new songs: The "Haunted Remnants", "You Beg for Mercy... I Beg for More", and "Make them Die Slowly". The tracks may end up on a promo or split. We have some ideas, but nothing in stone yet. We'll keep you posted. Also, the Cardiac Arrest Official Forum is up - stop by and say hello!
Also, sorry our Exit appearance got cancelled - it will be rescheduled.
11/26/06: Freeport Show/The Exit
We had a killer time at the Freeport show! Special thanks to Mary and the entire Rock Hollow Staff for the hospitality (read: Amber Boch); Tim, Randall, Don, Perry, and the whole ILDM crew for putting on the show; and of course, the bands - Waco Jesus, Life in Shadow, Severed (Thanks for the tech help, Vinny!!), Faded Embrace, and the opening band whose name fatigue has robbed me of at this time. We had a euGOREic time ROTting for you all in Freeport - we will kill again! That's a promise!
We look forward to spreading holiday cheer and grind to the Chicago masses next Sunday, December 3rd at the Exit, where we will be guest DJing alongside the CMF's own Rodney! Come out and ROT with us!
Also, be sure to check out the Severed show on Tuesday!

CMD III fucking ruled! We want to extend our sincerest thanks to the Unholy Trio, Wookie, Jimmy Rot, the entire YOTI crew, all the bands that played throughout the weekend, and most of all, the FANS!! You fuckers CRUSH! Thanks to the staff at Cafe Lura, Necrogression, All is Lost, Rellik, and Whorrid for a great show.
Also, we've got some desktop wallpapers ready to terrorize your computer! There is one for Heart Stopping Death ROT, one for Beast Among Many, and two for Morgue Mutilations. Feel free to grab them off our pics page.
9/1/06: Show Update/site updates/Morgue Mutilations
The September 10th show at Club Euro has been moved to Cafe Lura. All other info is the same. Hope to see you all there. Also, we've made changes to the Members page, as well as some of the member bios. Chek it out!
Also, Morgue Mutilations is completely mastered, and should be on its way to press by next week. Hopefully, we will have the actual CDs in hand in time for the September 17th show, and, so far, it looks that way. Thanks to Noa from Monarch Mastering for some last minute fixes!
8/29/06: ROT Across Midwest Tour/upcoming shows
Jim and the Adman check in after the whirlwind of shows this weekend:
Jim:
"Our "ROT upon the Midwest" minitour with Jungle Rot went great. You people like us, apparently. So, to all the fans that showed up in Chicago, Kenosha, and especially DeKILLb, thank you. THANK YOU, Thank You, thank you!!
Chicago (with Origin, Jungle Rot, Gorgasm, and the Muzzlers) went perfect. I mean, we had stage diving, crowd surfing, grinding, blood, everything!! You guys made that show for us, and I could not have asked for a more heartfelt welcome back after my surgery. Thank you!
Kenosha welcomed us with open arms! The sound was pea soup thick, the kids were drunker'n fuck, and Jungle Rot's backline was awesome!
Then, there was Dekalb.
Dekalb is our second home. There's no other way to say it. You guys make it worth everything every time. There are no fans like Dekalb fan anywhere in the world. Thank you for recharging my weary batteries after a long weekend - I needed it!
Also, we had an ILDM meeting up the street from the Jam Space - thanks to all members who showed up and showed support:
Ray, Perry, Randall, Don, Chris, Brady, Chad, Craig, and everyone else who is escaping my mind right now - THANK YOU! Love and Respect!
Extra Special thanks go out to Origin, Jungle Rot, the Muzzlers, Gorgasm, Pain Trigger, and Sallah (LFBM) for sharing the stage with us - you all did excellent work. Thanks!"
Adman:
"Well, we just got finished with one awesome fucking show filled weekend. Thanks to everyone who made this 'mini-tour' of sorts a success.
Thanks to Dave, Jimmy, Geoff and Neil of JUNGLE ROT for being awesome guys to be on the road with. Let's do it again sometime eh?
Also thank to all the crazy chicago fuckers for going all-out sick on us @ Nite Cap, and to all the new fans we made in Kenosha WI, and of course we can't forget about everyone in DeKILL-b, always a pleasure.
Also cheers to Origin, Gorgasm, The Muzzler, Pain Trigger and Sallah. Til next time this is Adam saying ROT IT UP FUCKERS!!!!! "
We have also updated our shows page - check it out!!

7/28/06: Shows/Bio Update

Cardiac Arrest is pleased to announce an all ages show in DeKalb with Jungle Rot and Sallah! This will cap off the three day "ROT across the Midwest" minitour starting August 25th. If you've never been to The Jam Space before, this is the show you want to go to!! Also, the CA Bio has been updated. Check it out!
7/10/06: Shows/Morgue Mutilations Ad

Some new shows are coming up - check the Shows page for details.
In the meantime, check out the Morgue Mutilations Ad (deleted for space):
Feel free to open it up and download the full size 8.5 X 11" version - this B&W one is perfect for mass production (hint, hint!). Thanks for all the support! ROT!
6/26/06: NEW MERCH
Also, thanks to everyone that came out to Champ's and YOTI this weekend to support us, and give Jim a heartfelt sendoff to his surgery today. He sends his love and respect.
6/9/06: Updates and pictures Galore, short break
Well, well, well. It's been awhile. Jim recently got a new computer, and other things have been hectic, so the site's been neglected. Don't worry, we beat him severely. The Splatterhouse/Severed show went great (despite a relatively low turnout), and so did the Morningstar/Bound and Gagged show! Thanks to all the crew at Champ's (Dave and Brian) and YOTI (VooDoo, Jimmy, and Wookie) for making us feel welcome as always. Tom is fitting into the band perfectly.
Pics are posted. Check em out.
Morgue Mutilations is nearly complete - here's Adam's take:
"Greets my ROTted brethren!!!! Yes, shit's coming together with the Morgue Mutilations release. We've received the cover art for it, and let me say it's gonna rip your fucking head off!!!!! We'll unleash it hopefully in a few days. The layout will be coming together as well. That will be done by Sly "The Goregnome" (Fondle Corpse). He's done alot of great quality work for many other bands. We can't wait to see what he comes up with. Should be receiving a final mix real soon too. A late August release is being planned from Redrum Records. Like always we'll let ya know more of what's going on.
Thanks for the continued support. ROT IT UP FUCKERS!!!!!"
And now for the "bad news": Jim is getting surgery on his ankle on June 26th, and that means that CA will not play live again until the August 25th show with Origin, Jungle Rot, and Gorgasm. The band is going to use this time to write songs for the next record, and to learn covers for the "Covered in ROT" EP. Once the surgery and recovery are done, Jim's ankle should be better than ever. Bear in mind that he has been playing shows on this injury since January! Jim thank all the Death ROT fans for all their support during his recovery - here's Vicodin and Icehouse atcha!
ROT!
5-7-07: Akron Aftermath, Adman update
Well, Akron proved to be the polar opposite experience that Geneva was. We got there nice and early, had a good load in and soundcheck, warmed up, and killed for a half hour. The turnout was diappointing, but, as Adam says, "you can't win them all". This ended up being Tom's first gig with CA, and he did a great job (awesome driver as well)! Also, it was a great night for networking: we reestablished ties with some folks we haven't seen in years! New pics are up on the Pictures page, including in-studio shenanigans, and the Akron gig.
Special thanks go out to: Andrew Parrish and RIPHEAD; Dave the soundguy, the R/E Club owners, Tom ("Fuck it, dude!") at U-Haul (for reestablishing our faith in trailer rental), Jim from Nunslaughter, the Mortal Decay guys, Crucified Mortals (timewarp old-school death/thrash), and, of course, all our new Ohio fans (horns up to Kyle and his buddy with the Death longsleeve!). We will see you again!
And now, and update from the Adman:
"Man sleep is awesome!!!! hehe. Especially after show sleep. Anyhow, C.A's first taste of Akron Ohio was a good one last night. Could've been more people but hey ya can't win every time. Thanks to everyone who saw our performance. Also much thanks to Andrew and the dudes in Riphead for hooking us up. Reaper and Crucified Mortals. Mortal Decay. Hope to make it back again soon. Anyhow, we should be heading back up to the studio next week to touch everything up. Hope to have it all finished up by sometime in June. Also we got some more shows lined up including an ALL AGES SHOW on June 25th with DEADEN!!! Keep checking the shows section as more get booked.
HAILS AND ROT!!!"
5-2-06: New Member Announced!!
Cardiac Arrest is proud to welcome Tom Knizner (Severed) to the band on second guitar and backing vokills! Tom's extensive background in all things, grind, death, and horror make him the perfect addition to the fold!! Raise your glasses in celebration! Tom maintains his duties in Severed, and will make his Chicagore debut with CA during our May 17th show with Splatterhouse (also featuring Midget Parade and Severed!)
4-29-06: Another Studio Update
Booking conflicts have forced us not to go in the studio today. We have, however, gotten a very rough mix, and the inital sounds are indeed huge. We should be back in the studio in about two weeks to finish some odds and ends (a solo or two, samples, and backup vocals).
4-26-06: Studio Update
Ok, here's a quick in-studio update on the 'Morgue Mutilations' sessions. Drum tracks were recorded in their entirety on Saturday; bass tracks were laid down on Sunday. The drum and bass sound is HUGE. Adam finished up rythm guitar tracks Tuesday (and phoned to say that the early mixes are sounding like a cross between early Malevolent Creation and early-90's Grave!), and his leads and vocals today. Backup vocals and samples will be taken care of this Saturday, and then the mixing process can begin! We'll keep you informed as to any other developments.
4-19-06: CMD statement, Morgue Mutilations announcement
First of all, thank you to all the fans who turned out for CMD2 and made it a success, despite being sandwiched between a major death metal show (Morbid Angel) and a holiday (Jeeziz Zombie Day). All of Cardiac Arrest wishes to apologize to our fans for not being able to perform on Saturday, but, it was in the best interests of Adam’s prolonged health. For those not in the know, the short version of the story is that, due to a pre-existing (but mostly dormant) condition, Adam suffered a seizure Friday night that warranted a nearly-24 hour hospital stay. After determining that there was nothing particularly out of the ordinary (and that he would be fine), the docs ordered him to rest and recuperate for a few days. We reluctantly cancelled the show in light of the incident. Since then, Adam has made a nearly full recovery, and should be at 100% in time for the first day of the “Morgue Mutilations” sessions this Saturday at Mercenary Digital Studios!
Speaking of which, we are proud to announce that “Morgue Mutilations” will be released on Will Rahmer’s very own Redrum Records! We are looking at a mid-July to early August release. As previously reported, artwork will be handled by “Putrid” Matt Carr! We will keep you updated on all studio happenings and release details as they come!
One last piece of unfortunate news: We have been forced to cancel our July 22 appearance in Tampa, FL, for purely logistic reasons. Our sincerest apologize to the Florida fans, as well as Belial Koblak, Sathanas, Chaos, and all at the Brass Mug. We will make this up to you!
Florida fan as well as Belial Koblak, Sathanas, Chaos, and all at the Brass Mug. We will make this up to you!, Chaos, and all at the Brass Mug. We will make this up to you!
Thank you all for the undead support! It means a lot!
ROT BE WITH YOU

4-13-06: CMD coming up
Just a reminder that we are playing the Chicago Metal Devastation 2 this weekwnd at NiteCap's. Make sure you are there extra early to catch all the great bands (besides, if we have to go on early, we don;t want you to miss the surprise!)! Cheers until then!
4-7-06: Ohio Aftermath/Florida gig
Well, that about sucked. Extra special no-thanks go out to U-Haul for overpromising and underdelivering. We ended up leaving over five hours late on account of them, and just like clockwork, we arrived five hours late to the gig, only to be told that we could not play. Thanks to Riphead, Dragon, and Metalourde for trying their best to take care of us. Also, thank to Fred and Barry (formerly of Mi'gauss), as well as the unnamed fan who bought Jim a beer! Although we did not ger to prove that Cleveland ROTs, we will return to ROT Akron!
We have been confirmed to play Tampa, FL, with Jim's old bandmates in Sathanas! Details on the Shows page.
3-26-06: New Shows/CMD 2
Just added the Splatterhouse show and a just-confirmed Akron gig to the shows page - thanks to Riphead for the hookup! Also, we have a very, very special surprise planned for the CMD 2 - old school CA fans, BE THERE!
3-21-06: Nitecap’s Aftermath/other news
Cardiac Arrest would like to send a big, big thanks to everyone that turned out for the Nitecap’s gig on Sunday, bands and fans alike! We had a great time, and the only regret is that we all had to work Monday! Worms Inside: You guys are great! Thanks to James and the whole crew for the support! Salt of the Earth: What a breath of fresh air! I thought jam-based stoner metal died in, like, ’94 or something! What a bunch of pros! Malas and Whorrid: Brothers of metal, it is always a pleasure to share the stage with you! We need to do this more often! We should do a three-date, three-band marathon: DeKalb, Chicago, and Indiana (or Wisconsin)! What d’ya say, boys?!
We’re off to Cleveland next week to slay the fans there. It will be Jim’s first time playing the area since his Mi’Gauss days (‘98/99), and both the Adman and Amsterdamn’s first time ever, so this should be interesting!
As a heads up, Jim is opening up a new webstore for merch: various black t-shirt designs, Horns Up merch, CA merch, Mi’Gauss merch, etc.. If there’s anything you would like to see email him right away!
The CMD2 is closing in fast, so, get your tickets!!
3-16-06: New MP3 posted!
We got a great live recording from our March 4th performance at Champ's Rock Room, thanks to their soundman Frank, and post production from Kai Kauffman. We may release some of these tracks at a later date, but, until then, chew on "Stiffs in the Basement", from the upcoming Morgue Mutilations LP! ROT!
3-09-06: The Adman Checks in
"Well as some of you who check the site out often know, yes we are
gonna be recording our first full-length entitled 'Morgue Mutilations', we're heading back up to record w/ Scott Creekmore @ Mercenary Digital (Evil Incarnate, Putrid Pile, Dead for Days, etc). Morgue will feature 10 songs of many severe atrocities and horror-laden adventures. Also doing the cover art this time around is our fellow brother in ROT Matt "Putrid" Carr. It's gonna rule, it surely will!!!!
Also in upcoming show news, we'll be sharing the stage with Razorback
Horror-Hive artists SPLATTERHOUSE on May 17th @ Champs!!! We will unveil more details ASAP, including a flyer.
Till next time, this is the Adman saying mosh hard and ROT ON!!!!!"
3-08-06: Champ’s Aftermath /Updates/Tragedy
Thank you to all who came out to see the show at Champ’s last Saturday. We recorded the tracks in cooperation with Champ’s, and Kai Kauffmann monitoring the recording levels. It sounds phenomenal! Look for some of these gems to appear soon! Anyone with pics of the show, please email Jim. Special thanks to Sallah, Veneificum, and Signal for playing with us!
We are looking forward to our show on this Sunday, the 19th, at Nightcap’s: with Salt of the Earth, Worms Inside, Malas, and Whorrid – it should fucking crush! It starts at 8pm, so you folks can get home in time to go to work!!
We are down to the last “Then Unleash My Lust” shirt!! Cardiac Arrest is going to sign this last shirt and sell it as a collector’s item to a lucky fan! We will not reprint this shirt in its current format again – if you don’t have one, and you want one, hurry up!
Although we are confirmed for April’s Morgue Mutilations sessions at Mercenary Digital, there are possible plans to record an EP of covers only this fall! More info as we decide to release it!
Larry Mollick, Sr., father of Cardiac Arrest’s close friend, producer Tony Mollick, died after a lengthy battle with cancer on Tuesday evening. Jim knows Tony best, and is the only member to have met Larry. Here are some of his thoughts:
“Larry was an old schooler if I ever met one. He loved Italian food, beer, women, and cigarettes. He and I broke bread a few times, and I certainly saw where Tony “got it from”. I lost my father to cancer as well, and I truly felt that, if anyone could have beat cancer, it was Larry. This news saddens me deeply. Our thoughts are with Tony and his family; drinks are raised for Larry. We will miss you, sir.”

2-20-06: Show changes, etc.
First off, thanks to everyone that came out on DePaul University on Saturday. The folks who ended up braving the sub-zero temperatures and showing up got a private, old school, in-your-face show. We know who our die-hard and most loyal fans are! We will never let you down! Special thanks to Michelle Margeaux for sticking it out! Moral Decay, you ruled!!
The entire show on the 18th has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. We will rebook the show at a later date if possible. Also, the “Stiffs in the Basement” shirts will be printed after the “Morgue Mutilations” LP is finished.
Promos are now available!! Email Adam for details!
See you all at Champs next weekend!
